ziREjA

Irene Sanfiel Arriaga (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife, 1980), also known as ziREjA, is a multidisciplinary creator. Since 2006, she has developed an eclectic, nonconformist, and deliberately uncomfortable artistic discourse. After studying and reflecting on the effects of mass consumption, as well as structural violence and the connections between gender and nature, she has focused her work since 2010 on environmental activism and ecofeminist theory and practice.

Between 2011 and 2012, she lived in Ghana, where she witnessed firsthand the impacts of international trade. In 2013, she received an award from the European Environment Agency. Since 2016, she has developed artistic mediation projects in collaboration with museums, institutions, and ministries, using visual and performative arts as her main tools for ecosocial action.
