Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife, 1967) is a film director, screenwriter, and producer. In 1985, he moved to Madrid to study Sociology and Political Science while also training in Photography and Film at the TAI School of Arts.
With more than three decades of international experience, he was nominated for an Academy Award for the short film Esposados (1996) and received the Goya Award for Best New Director for Intacto (2001), which was selected for festivals such as Cannes, Sundance, and Toronto. He has also directed international productions including 28 Weeks Later (2007), Intruders (2011), and Damsel (2024), establishing a career defined by a distinctive visual language and a continual exploration of the boundaries between suspense and fantasy in contemporary cinema.
