Javier Plácido (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Gran Canaria, 1973) is a visual artist whose work focuses on painting. He studied Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca and completed further training at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts.

He understands painting as a space where intuition, emotion, and material converge. Error, doubt, and fragility are central drivers of his creative process. His work is defined by a direct and honest use of materials, approached without artifice or ornament, and situated in a space of tension between the physical and the emotional. He has developed his career in international contexts, living and working in cities such as New York, Lisbon, Porto, and Barcelona. He currently lives and works in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where he continues to deepen a body of work that conceives art as an open process and a space for reflection on the human condition.
