Fernando Álamo (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife, 1952) is a visual artist. He studied at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes between 1970 and 1973 and held his first solo exhibitions in the early 1970s. Since then, he has developed an extensive exhibition career, presenting solo and group shows in galleries, museums, and art fairs across Europe, the Americas, and Africa. His work has been shown in institutions and contexts such as TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, CAAM, ARCO, ARTEBA, the Dakar Biennale of African Art, as well as galleries in Florence, Brussels, Munich, New York, Jerusalem, and Havana.
He has carried out artistic interventions in numerous public buildings and spaces in the Canary Islands and abroad. Since 2012, he has led the workshop No Limits for Creativity at CAAM, aimed at people with disabilities and groups with special needs. In 2010 he was named Adoptive Son of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and in 2014 he received the Canary Islands Award for Fine Arts and Interpretation.
