Ruiz Rivas
Daniel V. Ruiz Rivas (Barcelona, 1980) is an architect, scenographer, photographer and educator. Born in Barcelona to Canarian parents, he moved to the islands at the age of one. Throughout his career he has collaborated with professionals such as Marina Romero, Gunnar Knechtel, Juan Gopar and Laura Mihon.
He developed the project You Are The Voice; We Are Its Echo (2023) together with Eduardo Rega and Nora Akawi (Interim Studio), presented at the Graham Foundation as part of the Chicago Architecture Biennial. He is a member of the collective LABARRA alongside Rafael Arocha, Alba Serra and Cristóbal Ascencio, where they work on Isla como verbo, a project that recontextualizes Canarian Indigenous myths and techniques related to water. It was selected by Vist Projects (E·CO 24) and by SCAN Tarragona for Talent Latent.
He was nominated by Rafa Arocha for the Star Photobook Dummy Award (Photographic Social Vision) in 2022. He currently works with Abuela Studio in Barcelona and teaches at LABASAD.
