Álvarez
Asiria Álvarez (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Gran Canaria, 1992) is a photographer and graphic designer working from a gender perspective. She trained in Graphic Design at the Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño de Gran Canaria (EASDGC), where she also developed her interest in photography. Since then, her work has focused on self-portraiture and feminist portraiture, shaping a practice grounded in a strong activist commitment.
Among her projects are workshops on photography from a gender perspective. She is co-author of the Manual of Best Practices for Supporting Rural Women in the Canary Islands (Cabildo de Gran Canaria, 2024) and the guide Sin filtros, promoting a healthy use of social media (Government of the Canary Islands, 2022). Her most recent work, La imagen invisible, is a research project that brings together women who have been, or are, behind the camera in the Canary Islands.
